Susan M. Collins
Provost
I'm pleased to welcome you to the Office of the Provost website.
At the University of Michigan, the provost has primary responsibility for academic and budgetary affairs. This combination of responsibilities ensures that academic priorities are supported by budgetary decisions, an arrangement that helps to ensure that the University of Michigan remains one of the world's best public universities.
The Office of the Provost is charged with developing policies and programs that enable all in our community to learn and contribute to the world. Our priorities are shaped by the University's mission:
The mission of the University of Michigan is to serve the people of Michigan and the world through preeminence in creating, communicating, preserving and applying knowledge, art, and academic values, and in developing leaders and citizens who will challenge the present and enrich the future.
The nineteen schools and colleges on the Ann Arbor campus work separately and collaboratively with each other, with our many institutes, centers, and research programs, and with the provost's office, to fulfill this mission.
Sincerely,
Susan M. Collins
Provost
